“…one of the most engaging short films I’ve ever seen.”
Filmbites had the pleasure of hosting Jayden Timms from Kolbe Catholic College last week. We asked Jayden to view “Old Lady Agnes”, produced by the Advanced Acting Year 2 class in 2015. Here’s what he had to say:
Old Lady Agnes, a Filmbites film directed by Rob Livings, is a short film set in present time around an older house that is said to be haunted. 5 teenagers decide to jump the gate to get to the house and after the teens enter the house, it leads Old Lady Agnes to strike back at them.
Old Lady Agnes (Shanta Surendran) attempts to kill them ‘to bring her children back’ which is mentioned by Billy (Cody Allen), Casey (Karly-Emma Corbett) and Evan (Paul Nedelkos). Knowing this, Billy decides to walk into the house after Luke (Dan Mattock) accident opens the door. After everyone follows Billy into the house, Evan walks in last and the door, with force, slashes behind him. As most are scared to be in this haunted house, Billy decides to scare his friend by hiding in a closet but while doing this, Old Lady Agnes has other plans. With Billy nowhere to be found, and the teenagers forced to split up, Old Lady Agnes seeks to eliminate the rest of them through weaknesses and fears that each of the teenagers have and can’t fight against.
Personally, I really enjoyed sitting down at Filmbites and watching one of the best Filmbites has to offer. I’ve seen many movies with a similar plots and settings, but the delivery and in the amount of time until ‘shit hits the fan’ was brilliant and very fun to watch. Old Lady Agnes is a great representation of supernatural works which you see quite often in today’s film world but for a short time limit to convince this theme to the viewers. Old Lady Agnes is abundant, and may will just be one of the most engaging short films I’ve ever seen and I can’t wait to see more of what Filmbites has to offer in the world of film.
