Ages 14 to 18yrs

Filmbites Malaga

Only suitable for those with prior acting training

Mastery of your voice is essential to a great performance, and knowing how to create an authentic US Accent increasingly useful too.

This workshop will be led by Luzita Fereday, Voice and Dialect instructor at WAAPA for Acting and Musical Theatre students, and freelance Voice and Dialect coach on professional productions. Luzita has a Masters by Research from Edith Cowan University (WAAPA) on Accent and Dialect Training for Australian Actors, and is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).

The workshop will cover:

  • Vocal warm up
  • Exploring and shifting vocal tract posture – the way that the jaw, lips and cheeks are held
  • General American accent elements: foundations, vowels, consonants, intonation, rhythm, stress
  • Listening to accent, breaking down the consonants and vowels, then putting it all together in a monologue.
