Nina graduated from the Film and Television Institute with a diploma in screen acting in 2010, and it was while she was studying that she was cast in feature film Little Sparrows, and short film Potato Peelers. Little Sparrows was well received both Nationally and internationally and was selected as one of only 16 films worldwide to compete at the Rome International film festival in 2010. Also in competition was Rabbit Hole starring Nicole Kidman, The kids are alright starring Julianne Moore and Oranges and Sunshine starring Emily Watson. In 2013 Nina was cast in 3 feature films – Foreshadow (with screenings at selected Hoyts cinemas nationally), Pinch Directed by Jeff Asselin, and Indefinite – filmed in both Perth and Kalgoorlie with Director Kane George Jason. As well as film Nina has also worked in theatre and in 2012 was nominated for a Finlay award for her performance of nurse Ratchet in the play One flew over the cuckoo’s nest.
I’ve had the pleasure to work with Nina Deasley, a performer of incredible natural talent and drive. I cast Nina in my 2012 play ‘Les Affreux’. She brought a tremendous sense of intensity and honesty to the role. Nina has always been a warm, hard working and honest person and performer. I’ve valued the work we’ve created together and would not hesitate to recommend her in any fashion. – Wade K Savage (Director: The Owl : WA Screen award winner for best short film 2013)
I have had the great pleasure of working with Nina Deasley as an actor through the Film & Television Institute of Western Australia, the premiere centre of film studies where Nina completed a Diploma in Screen Acting focusing on the methods of Lee Strasberg, Irene Adler & Harold Guskin. Nina possesses mastery in building organic, honest and truly beautiful characters. Her continued willingness to explore and learn in a fluid industry is both admirable and the mark of a true professional. Her outstanding body of work in independent film is evidence of her true diversity and skill. – Iskandar Sharazuddin
